Market Open Times for Trading Sessions
Morning trades see the busiest action for gold in the market.
In trading, the most active times for gold are when European banks are operational (London trading hours) and when US banks are open (New York trading hours). However, many businesses worldwide tend to conduct their trading activities mostly in the early morning, with few positions taken by international firms in the afternoon.
This is the observation that's has been made by most traders who regularly trade the market. Trader will observe that at London market open the market will move quite an amount of pips steadily for a couple of hours, then after these hours the market will start to retrace or consolidate. Then comes the New York Morning time and during the first few hours the market will then move quite a substantial number of pips and then after these trading hours the market will then begin to consolidate or retrace majority of the times until the morning time of London market.
Generally these two times are when 70 - 80% of all market movement will take place. These are
- London gold trading morning trade time
- New York gold morning trade time
So in GMT time what are the trading morning trade times of these two markets?
Based on the chart presented above, the only Gold Morning Trades of interest are the London Gold Trading Morning Trade and the New York Gold Morning Trade:
- London gold trading morning trade time - 8:00 - 11:00 GMT
- New York gold trading morning trade time - 13:00 - 16:00 GMT
For the gold morning trade, limit it to 3 hours. Close before price pulls back or flattens.
So as a trading morning trader these will be your trading time for opening and closing trades. If you decide to open a morning trade you should close it within the 3 hours morning time because after these morning hours most trades by financial institution will already have been executed & hence after these few hours the liquidity in the market goes down & the price movement will slowdown.
