Standard ToolBar Menu and How to Customize it in MT4 Platform
The Standard Toolbar on the MetaTrader 4 is shown/illustrated below:
Before explaining how to use each tool listed on this standard tool bar, let us make sure all available buttons are added to it by customizing it:
- Right Click the tool-bar customize button to the left such as displayed below

Explanation of Each Tool on the Standard Tool bar
1: Opens a chart in MT4 & a gold trader can specify which type of trading chart to open by pressing the drop-down arrow next to its icon.
2: Profile - can be used to load a saved profile or to save a new profile: these options are provided as a sub-menu from the drop down arrow.
3: Opening and closing marketwatch window: marketwatch displays the trading quote prices for selected instruments.
4: Data window opens and closes and it displays price info as well as the other data like technical indicator's data.
5: Navigator Short Cut, navigator shows Account info, indicators, scripts and EAs data.
6: Terminal window/panel short cut, displays the trade positions opened by a xauusd trader - displays open trade transactions, balance, account equity, transaction history, news, Expert Advisors(EAs) tab, signals tab and trade alerts tab.
7: Strategy tester opens the Gold Strategy Tester & traders can test their Expert Advisors(EAs) on this Gold Strategy Tester environment.
8: Places a new order by opening a popup panel where as a trader you can specify the gold to buy, the amount to trade, & if the order will be a market order or set as a pending xauusd trade order.
9: Meta Editor opens the Meta Editor environment where a trader can add or program an EA or a new indicator on this MetaEditor Environment.
10: Help, if you don't know something in the MT4 click on this and point on any MT4 object & get an explanation.
11: Options settings for editing MT4 options that are used by your trading software, these settings are server settings & Expert Advisors settings found under main navigation menu on the tools menu, options submenu.
12: Full screen option for setting trading chart to full screen option, Shortcut is Key board Key 'F11'
13: Print Chart
14: Print Preview
15: EAs - this option activates and deactivates Automated EAs on a trading chart, pressing on this button changes the colour code from green to red, green color code means Expert Advisor(EA) Trading is allowed, red color code means EA trading execution is not allowed.
Remove Buttons
As a trader you'll not require all these buttons and you can hide some of them by pressing customize (shown above), then select and choose some of the items on the right side panel and then select and choose hide.
Remove the above tools by clicking on them & then pressing the remove button.
