How to Draw Trendlines on MetaTrader 4 Charts
Sometimes support and resistances are shaped diagonally on the same way like a stair-case. This forms a trend which is a sustained movement in one direction either upwards or downward.
A trend line indicator depicts the points of support & resistance for price, depending on the direction of the chart. For an upwards trend - trendline indicator will shows the points of support and for a downward trend - trendline indicator will show the levels of resistance and they are used mainly by many investors to determine these resistance and support areas.
Trendline is a straight line that connects 2 or more price points then extend into the future to act as areas of support or resistance. There are two various types: upward trend line & downwards trend-line. Trend line indicator is an aspect of analysis that uses line studies to try & predict where the price is likely to move. A trader must know how to draw and interpret signals derived & generated by this trendline indicator tool.

The basis of this trendline analysis is based upon the idea that the prices move in trends. Trend Line indicator is used to show three things.
- The overall direction of market prices - up/down.
- The power of the current move - and
- Where future support and resistance will be likely located
If trendlines form in a certain direction then prices generally moves & heads in that particular direction for a period of time until a time when the trend line is broken.
Drawing trendline indicator on a chart portrays the overall trend of the prices which can either be upwards trend or downwards trend.
