MT4 Chart Timeframe: Periodicity on Charts on MT4 Platform
Periodicity is often known as Chart Timeframes by many traders. On the MT4 software.
The button below is used to select the periodicity or chart timeframe to trade with. This button can be accessed on the MT4 platform as cited below.
MetaTrader 4 Chart Timeframes
On MetaTrader 4 platform these chart timeframes are:
- 1 Minute Time Frame - M1
- 5 Minutes Timeframe - M5
- 15 Minutes Time-frame - M15
- 30 Min Time-frame - M30
- 1 Hour Timeframe - H1
- 4 Hours Chart Timeframe - H4
- Daily Chart Timeframe - D1
- Weekly Chart Timeframe - W1
- Monthly Timeframe - MN
How to Know Which Time-frame You are Using
A common question especially if you're new to gold trading would be how to identify which chart timeframe you're using on your MT4 platform:
There are various methods of knowing which MT4 chart timeframe you're using as Shown below:
Use the Menu above as Shown above
In the above example once you choose the periodicity button under the charts menu, then the list of MetaTrader 4 chart timeframes is shown and the chart timeframe that's currently selected, the one that you're using will be high-lighted with a different colour, on our example illustration above this is the 1 Hour(H1) time frame, whose Icon on the left is high lighted in light blue.

This MetaTrader 4 periodicity tool-bar is by default located at the top of the MT4 platform and has all the chart timeframes highlighted as cited below. The chart timeframe that a trader is using will be marked differently from the other chart timeframes, the chosen chart timeframe will be "indented" just as shown below:

When you open a chart you as a trader can then use above three methods to know which periodicity - chart timeframe you're trading with.
You can also use the tabs, if you're many charts. To view this tab, Go to "View Menu" then Choose "Charts Bar". The following MetaTrader 4 bar then will appear that you can use to navigate and it indicates the chart as well as the chart timeframe.
