The MT5 Gold Simulator in the MT5 platform is the environment used to back test the profitability of an MetaTrader 5 Automated EA which is an Automated Bot & determine profitability of this Grid Expert-Advisor automated gold strategy & then Optimize this Grid EA to a point where it is giving good profits from its automated trading activities.

The MT5 strategy tester mode can be activated from the view menu and it is the second last menu item on View Menu, A short cut is to Press Ctrl+R MT5 buttons on your key board.

The Meta Trader 5 strategy Tester has the following Parameters for setting up before testing an Automated EA automated system and also for optimizing the profitability of this Grid EA.

Automated Expert Advisor: Parameter for choosing which gold Grid EA you want to test among those installed on your MT5 software.

Symbol: The instrument for which you want to test the Automated Gold Expert-Advisor on

Model: Whether to execute based on tick method, open prices or control points

Use Date: Set the date to begin the testing & date to end the testing of the Automated Gold Expert-Advisor

Visual Mode: Select To view simulation of where this Grid Expert-Advisor opens & closes trade as testing is carried out, there's also a slide bar option to increase or decrease the speed for this visual mode.

Period: Chart Timeframe for which to use illustration 1 Hour Chart

Optimization: Allow Optimization Setting for your Expert Advisor(EA) Automated Robot

For example illustration, to test the above Automated Gold Expert-Advisor on the gold for profitability, the settings can be setup just as is illustrated & shown above & the MetaTrader platform strategies tester is then run, by pressing the 'Start Button'.

Following trade results are generated & an automated trader can select to optimize the Grid EA further by changing the Automated EAs settings.

Once the optimization of the Automated Gold Expert-Advisor is complete the status bar will show progress, the above status bar highlights the progress that the Grid trading Automated Expert Advisor testing is complete.
