What is The Difference Between Gold and XAUUSD? - XAUUSD is the symbol for Gold on Trading Platform. Therefore, to trade gold, a trader will use the symbol(XAUUSD). Hence, the Difference Between XAUUSD and Gold is that XAUUSD is the Symbol for trading while Gold is the Instrument being traded. To add gold symbols in MetaTrader 5 platform use the MT5 'Market Watch' Window - To Open the Meta Trader 5 MarketWatch Window, Click 'View' Menu next to 'File' Menu at the top left corner of your MT5 gold Platform - from the drop-down menu choose 'Market Watch' button key so as to open 'Market Watch' in the MT5 platform.
Once you as a xauusd trader open the Meta Trader 5 MarketWatch panel the list of available symbols will be displayed on the Meta Trader 5 software and as trader you can open a chart from the Meta Trader 5 market watch window. From this MetaTrader 5 Market watch window you also can add gold quotes in MT5 platform.
If you as a trader want to add more symbols on this MT5 MarketWatch window, Right Click within the MT5 Market Watch panel & a Pop Window appears - from this MT5 popup window choose the option - 'Show All' - this will then show all the symbols that are available for trading on MT5 software platform.
Once the quotes are opened in MT5 MarketWatch window, you can then choose any of the quote & open a chart by double clicking on that symbol.

To get the other Meta Trader 5 gold quotes which are not listed on this MetaTrader 5 MarketWatch window, you can right click inside this MetaTrader 5 market watch window panel as displayed below & the following window will pop-up. You then can select 'Show All' MetaTrader 5 button key so as to display all the available quotes in MT5 platform.
