What is Required Gold Trading Margin? : Required Gold Trading Margin is the amount of money your broker requires from you to open a trade position. It's expressed in percentage.
What is Equity? : XAUUSD Equity is the total amount of capital you have in your account.
What is Used XAUUSD Margin? : Used Gold Trading Margin is the amount of money in your account that has already been used up when buying a contract, this contract is the one that's displayed in open trade transactions. You can't use this sum of money after opening a trade position because you have already used it and it's not available to you to open another trade transaction with.
In other words, because your online broker has opened up a position for you using the capital you have borrowed, you as a trader must maintain this used margin as collateral to allow you continue using the leverage the broker has given you.
What's Free Margin? : XAUUSD Free Trading Margin is the amount of money in your account which you as a gold trader can use to open new trade positions. Free Trading Margin is the amount of money in your account that hasn't yet been leveraged because you haven't yet opened a trade transactions with this funds - this Free Margin is also very important for you as a trader because it enables you as a trader to continue holding your open trade transactions as explained below.
Example of What is Margin in MT4 Platform
The margin examples on MetaTrader 4 below, the set leverage option is 100:1, the margin which is 1 % is $2683.07 - therefore the total amount controlled by the trader is: $268,307 - this is because with this leverage the trader has used little of their own capital and borrowed the rest from their online broker, with this leverage option set at 100:1, a xauusd trader is using 1 percent% of their trading capital, this 1 % is $2683.07 - if 1% is $2683.07 dollars then 100 % is $268,307 dollars
