How to Open a Stocks Instrument in MetaTrader 4 Software

To open a Stock instrument go the MetaTrader 4 Market Watch Window select the stock instrument that you want to open and double click on the stock instrument to open the stocks chart for this stock instrument.

You can also click the click to add button at the bottom of the MT4 Market Watch Window to add a stock instrument that is not listed on the Market Watch Widow.

How to Open a Stock Trade in MT4 Software

To open a stock trade in the MetaTrader 4 software right click within the stock chart & choose the New Order Widow to open a buy or sell stock trade.

A trader can also open the New Order panel in the MetaTrader 5 platform by clicking the MT4 short cut key - F9, stock traders can press F9 to open the New Order window.

From MT4 New Order window panel a trader can open a buy or a sell stock trade by clicking the Buy by Market to open a buy stock trade or clicking the Sell by Market to open a sell stock trade. Stop-Loss Level can be set when opening a new stock trade in MT4 platform. On the New Order window provided on the MetaTrader 4 platform there is a field for Stop Loss - this is where a trader will specify the stoploss level for their open stock trade.

Stop-Loss Level can also be set when modifying an already open stock trade, to modify & set a stop loss for an open stock trade - right-click on stock trade you want to modify on MT4 Terminal Window or on the Stock chart, Select Modify Order, Select Stop Loss and set the Stop Loss Level that you want for your open stock trade.

How to Place a Stock Pending Order in MetaTrader 4 Software

To place a stock pending order open the New Order Window on the MT4 platform, then change the stock order Type from Market Execution to Pending Order.
