MetaTrader 4 Software Lesson Guide
The MT4 Navigator helps you access key parts of the MetaTrader 4 platform. Main areas include:
- Accounts: Demo and Real Accounts

Upon selecting the Navigator button in MT4, a navigator window displaying various options will appear.

MT4 Navigator
The First menu option on Navigator list is the Trade Accounts tab. To view accounts tab, you can click expand button (marked & labeled as +), & a list of your saved accounts will appear. Every time you sign in with a new account the authorization login credentials/details will be saved under this 'Accounts Tab'.
You can initiate the login process and connect to any account by simply double-clicking on its entry. It is possible to transition between different accounts using this dedicated accounts tab interface.
This tab shows two accounts that are documented: a Real account, indicated by a gold cartoon, and a demo trading account, indicated by a green cartoon. By double-clicking on any one of them, you can switch between any two of these accounts using this trading accounts tab.

The steps mentioned above are illustrated in the screenshot below. To access additional options under search, traders can click the expand (+) button, which reveals more options. To hide these options, simply press the minimize (–) button. For instance, the "Expert Advisors" option in the example below is shown in its expanded state.

We will go over these lessons in more detail later, but for now, here's a simple explanation of each for those trading gold.
Indicators are trading analysis tools used in trading that are placed on a chart, and these tools are used to create buy and sell signals.
EAs are automated bots that open and manage trades on their own. They generate buy and sell signals using programs written in MQL4.
Custom Trading Indicators: A custom indicator includes an indicator which you've modified or downloaded from the internet and then installed it on your MT4 platform software, this technical indicator will be listed and shown here as a "custom indicator"
Scripts: These are special functions designed to carry out specific tasks. For example, if you have opened five trade positions and want to close them all at the same time, using a 'script close' on your chart will close everything together. However, as a gold trader, you must set up some settings on the MetaTrader platform to allow scripts to run, but that will be discussed in another tutorial.
The Navigator is a panel you'll use often when trading: to open it quickly, press 'Ctrl+N' on your keyboard to show or hide it.
